Ibuprofen and Paracetamol are combined in this medicine.
This medicine is used to relieve mild to moderate pain such as headache, migraine, back, muscle, dental and menstrual pain.
It is also used to reduce fever and inflammation.
Take Ibuprofen + Paracetamol exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Take it together with food or immediately after a meal.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Do not take Ibuprofen + Paracetamol if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine or similar painkillers such as aspirin, mefenamic acid, indomethacin, ketoprofen, meloxicam, naproxen or piroxicam.
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- existing or previous stomach ulcer
- severe weakness
- severe heart problem
- severe liver disease
- severe kidney disease
- active bleeding
- blood clotting disorder
- previous inflammation of the digestive tract
- active alcoholism
as this medicine may not be suitable for you.
Do not take Ibuprofen + Paracetamol if you are on your third trimester of pregnancy. This medicine may cause harm to your unborn child.
Do not give this medicine to children below 18 years old unless instructed to do so by the doctor.
Do not take Ibuprofen + Paracetamol with other medicines containing ibuprofen or paracetamol or with other medicines for pain and inflammation e.g. mefenamic acid, meloxicam.
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- existing or previous bronchial asthma or allergy
- high blood pressure
- family history of heart disease or stroke
- mild to moderate liver disease
- mild to moderate kidney disease
- systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation)
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Ibuprofen + Paracetamol to the elderly. Elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects.
Ibuprofen + Paracetamol may cause drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue and visual disturbance. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert or need to see clearly.
Other side effects include any of the following: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, stomach wind, constipation, indigestion, headache, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, high blood pressure, ringing in the ears, swelling of the ankles or feet, rash, itchiness.
Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
- rashes, breathlessness, swelling of the face, eyes or mouth
- pass out bloody stools or black as tar and vomiting blood, or ground coffee-like material
- rashes with peeling of the skin or blistering of the lips, mouth or eyes accompanied by fever
- yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, dark coloured urine, tiredness, swelling in the legs and ankles
This medicine may cause the level of your red blood cells to drop.
Red blood cells carry oxygen around your body. A fall in the level of red blood cells may make you feel tired and worn out.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Do not take Ibuprofen + Paracetamol with other medicines containing ibuprofen or paracetamol or with other medicines for pain and inflammation e.g. mefenamic acid, meloxicam.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- blood-thinning medicines e.g. warfarin
- water pills e.g. furosemide
- anti-inflammatory medicines e.g. prednisone
- medicines to treat TB e.g. isoniazid
- medicines to treat high blood pressure e.g. enalapril, captopril
- probenecid (medicine to treat gout)
- chloramphenicol (antibiotic)
- zidovudine (medicine for HIV infection)
- methotrexate (medicine to treat rheumatoid arthritis and some types of cancer)
- lithium (medicine to treat depression)
- medicine for fits or seizures e.g. phenytoin
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with this medicine.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
